Hello Card

Here is a card I created with tissue paper (blue).  I used to do a lot of craft shows selling my cards....I thought it would be a great idea to scan and share them!  It is like opening a Pandora's box...some cards I created I still like, some I am embarrassed I created.  Oh, how we grow!

I think it turned out so much better than I thought it would at the time.  Perfect little card for a male or female.

Lady Bug Card

Lady Bug Card

Spring makes me think of my Gerber Daisies and Lady Bugs!
I used Close to My Heart paper, $1.00 stamps from Michael's, aqua rhinestones, water colors for the details of the daisy, blue and yellow Stickles for the glimmer on the petals and the daisy center, the daisy flower I purchased at a LSS on sale for $2.50, and a wooden Lady Bug to create this adorable card!  Sorry the picture is a little blurry, it did not scan well because of the height of the lady bug.

I just love Spring don't you?

Thankful Thursday! In Honor.......

Hi Everybody!

Welcome to Thankful Thursday!  The challenge this week is to Honor someone special with a display.  May 30th is Memorial Day, so please take a moment to say a prayer to all the men and women that have and do serve our country.

In honor of Memorial Day, I created a layout of my husband's grandfather, Forrest Bud Smith.
He loved the service and was proud to be part of the 12th Armored Division Association (Hellcats).  He attained the rank of Master Sergeant.  He received several honors and award in his life for his serve to our country.  Forrest's division was the first to shoot fire at the Nazi's in World War II.

Brett's grandfather sadly past on January 1, 2003, it was a bitter sweet day because it is also our son's birthday.  I wanted to take a moment and create a layout honoring him and his legacy.

We have an awesome prize this month, it's currently the prize is a Post-it prize pack)!!  Don't forget to head over to Crazy About Cricut (http://www.crazyaboutcricut.blogspot.com/), and enter your family project!

Please take a moment to visit the other great artists on the Thankful Thursday Design Team too!

Dear Diary....May 11, 2011

Dear Diary.....

Weather
You are my Sunshine!  My only Sunshine!  You make me happy........I am really glad to see the cold weather gone!  The gray blah days are gone and it feels really good to see the sun in the morning.  However, I am not looking forward to the hot and humid days that will be soon upon us here in Chicago.  It just means more days down for me as  I fight through my HS.  I am taking the warm weather as a gift of renewal.  I especially love seeing my tulips in full bloom in my front yard.  Everything looks better with flowers!

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Speaking of flowers!   My DH purchased some lovely flowers for me...here are some pictures!
My DS, Cory James, took me out to dinner!  Which was quite the treat!  He came downtown and met me at work.  We celebrated a few days early since he had to work on Sunday.  We went to Heaven on Seven, we ate oysters, gumbo, and shrimp pastes.  I really was so impressed with him, he made reservations and everything!  Ahhh, my boy is growing up! He hates cards or at least that is his excuse he gives... he  gave me  a darling Mother's Day card too!  Such a sweet moment and truly a memory I will not soon forget!
Thankful Thursday Design Team
Last week was my first project for a design team!  Lindzi came over and we created a wonderful paper flower topiary for her mother and my friend, Inger.  It turned out so cute!
I am working on my next posting for May 19th which will be a project to honor a loved one for Memorial Day.  I think, I will creating something with either Brett's Grandfather or mine...We shall see!
MY Project of the Week
I try once a week to create a project just for myself.  Since I spend most of my free time creating for others, I try hard to set some time away each week for myself too! I get some sassafaction too!  I created my own paper flower topiary for my dining room.  I think the tissue paper that matches looks pretty cool!
Fur Babies
What can I say....they are just so cute!
Well DD, as always, thanks for letting me write in your space.
Holy Cow Card Series: Card 3
HOLY COW CARD SERIES
Card 3
Here is the third card of my "Holy Cow" card series.
I love doing dry embossing and love Lasting Impression Brass Templates.
I pick my templates on line or at my LSS.  The template I am using this week is L9389 Moo.
As a scrapbooker and crafter, I am guilty of wanting the latest and greatest new thing.....but I really love the raise impressions and demension dry embossing gives to my cards.  I chose this template to show that you can purchase one item (4.99) and get a lot of use out of it!
So this is my third card of the series:
I  used black embroirary floss to make the tail.  The paper used was from Hobby Lobby, it is old and was in my stash so I thought I would use it up!  You will see several other cards with this background too....again, showing you can use what you got and not spend a lot of money!
The cow spots are a metallic black with silver accent and the horns are in gold.
Thankful Thursday! Happy Mother's Day Topiary Project
Hi Everybody!
Welcome to Thankful Thursday!  The challenge this week was to create a "Mother's Day" project.  Here is the project that I made with my family member:
My little friend,  Lindzi, came over to create an awesome Mother's Day gift with me.  I gave several ideas for Mother's Day gifts, this is what she decided to make....
A Mother's Day Topiary
Supplies:
1 wooden rod, 1 clay pot, 1 Styrofoam ball, 1 square Styrofoam block, acrylic paint, paint brushes, paper, rhinestones, hot glue gun, and Cricut's Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge
I apologize, but apparently I did not save my pictures of the first few steps we did!
For safety, I hot glued the Styrofoam block onto the clay pot for Lindzi.  Hot Glue is dangerous for everyone, including adults....I wanted to make sure I sent Lindzi home unharmed so she can come back and craft with me again!
We stuck the Styrofoam ball onto our wooden stick and Lindzi painted it with acrylic paint.  The paint was the same color as the flowers she made with the Mother's Day Bouquet to hide any gaps around the ball.
Once the ball was painted, Lindzi painted the wooden rod as well.  We put that off the side for drying, it only takes about 10 minutes to dry when using acrylic paint..PERFECT FOR a 10 year attention span!
We moved on to painting the clay pot.  Lindzi is an artist and has been recognized at her school too for her awesome work!  She decorated her pot with hearts, peace signs and of course  " I love Mom"
Once the pot was dry, we placed the rod into the Styrofoam block, for extra security I added a dab of hot glue to the end.
Lindzi choose to decorate her topiary with the Flower#9 from Cricut's Mother's Day Bouquet, we made 25 flowers at 2" .  Lastly I added the hot glue  and Lindzi used the "magic stick"  (a bamboo skewer) (Lindzi informed me that my "magic stick" was not magically at all, but just a stick), to hold the flowers in place as the hot glue cooled into place.  We simply added different blue rhinestones to the flower centers!  Lastly, we added little clear glass marbles to cover fill in the flower base and added a little ribbon around the stem!
I think Lindzi agreed that this was an awesome Mother's Gift for her mom, Inger!
We have an awesome prize this month, it's currently the prize is a Post-it prize pack)!!  Don't forget to head over to Crazy About Cricut (http://www.crazyaboutcricut.blogspot.com/), and enter your family project!
