Retirement Card

Retirement Card

Here is another card I created a few years ago.  This one is a "retirement" card.  I still love this image, especially since I am an accountant by trade, and the good Lord knows, accountants have a nerdy persona!

Again , I used colored pencils and Gamasol to blend the colors!  I added a little Diamond Glaze for the eye glass lenses!

Looking at this card, I love the argyle patterned paper and the image.  I think I would use ribbon for extra texture and maybe some brads to the corners.

The Inside of the card

Congrats on your Retirment!

Now you can goof off all day at home
Instead of driving to work to do it!

When Pigs Fly Card

When Pigs Fly..................

I love this card as much as when I created it!  I love my pigs!  The inside card was left blank for the user to add their own sentiments.

The middle paper was corrugated to add dimension.  Once I was done coloring the my little piggie, I glittered the entire image, I really do not think this picture really shows its sparkle!  I would not change a thing to this darling card,  It has always been a winner at my card shows!

Thankful Thursday Design Team

Thankful Thursday Design Team

I have some BIG news today. I made the Thankful Thursday Design Team on Crazy About Cricuts (Jenny's) blog!!!

I am super excited since this is the first design team I have made it on and it was my first time applying for a design team. I am even more excited to have fun designing projects with my family and friends each month.  I am looking forward to sharing my love of crafting!
For those of you who are new to my blog, here is a little bit about this Rock Girl!
I have been married to my best friend, Brett, aka DH, for almost 15 years.  We live in a little suburb of Chicago, called Grayslake.  We have a 20 year old son, named Cory, who is the apple of my eye.  He has been a continuous inspiration for me.  Brett and I also have 2 furbabies named Pedro and Athena.  They tend to keep us entertained.

I have been scrapping and crafting all my life, it is my passion.  I lose hours in my Purple Haze Craft Room and love that my husband supports me by doing the dishes on those days!

What I really love about bloggging is the ability to share my creations and teach and learn from others as well!  I also have a custom scrapbook business called Crabby Cakes Studio which I create layouts and mini albums with my business partner and friend Christine.

Thank you for stopping by and I would love for you to become a follower if you aren't already. I also love to read all your comments. Thank you Jenny for this great opportunity! So make sure to visit my blog every Thursday to see what I create and what crazy family member it will be with!

I don't hate everyone......my sassy girl card!

I don't hate everyone......

Inside Card

I was cleaning up my craft room and came across some of my cards I created for craft shows way back when....like 5 years ago!

I love creating cards that surprise the recipient when they open the card, just adding my Rock Girl sass!

The stamp was from Las Vegas Stamp Company, I purchase a pound of unmounted stamps and this was part of the "grab" bag!

I colored my sassy girl with colored pencils and then used Gamasol  (not sure this is the proper spelling) I used a blending brush to soften my pencil strokes.

To add some more element to my card, I stitched blue embroidery floss add my sassy girl!

I have a few more to share so please be sure to stop by tomorrow for my next card!

Day 2 of Easter Egg Hunt Blog Hop

Happy Easter Egg Hunt

I loved filling Cory's
(Cory James is my 20 year old beloved son) Easter basket with homemade Easter delights and little toys..the Easter bunny usually included something creative in the basket too for him, like drawing pads and pencils.  Now he is all grown up so the Easter bunny and I fill a basket full of Nerd candies, White Chocolate Truffles, a CD, gift card and a t-shirt.  Big Boys need Big Toys! Don't worry, Cory still needs to find his basket and the Easter Bunny always hides eggs filled with some extra $$ treats!  They are never too old!
Inside Bunny Coloring Book

To create this coloring book, I used MyScrapChick paper piecing pattern to create this adorable mini coloring book.  At the top you can see I included a rhinestone pencil and carrot tag.  I know, the upper pictures looks like the bunny is holding an old fashion hobo stick!  The carrot tag is my own paper piecing.  I added the little egg at the bunny's foot, which would be a cute idea if you are needing to create several coloring books by adding a little personalization .

Easter Bunny Paper embellishment

I created this adorable tag embellishment so it can be added to any scrapbook layout.  I was inspired by a wood embellishment I saw at Hobby Lobby.  I simply hand drew my design and layered on top of black card stock.  Although the picture is flat, the bunny's feet and nose are popping off the page for that beloved 3-D effect.  Lastly, since this is an Egg Hunt Blog Hop, I added a little "EggHunt" button at the top!

Dear Diary...April 15, 2011

Dear Diary.....

Vacation
I really had a wonderful time with a girlfriend and her daughter last week in Wisconsin Dells.  It was a wonderful time and semi relaxing when we retreated to our room.  The pool and wave pool were entirely different experiences.
I would like to give a shout out to the father of four at the wave pool, I send you a big high five, your my kinda dad!  DD, you know how much I love children especially the obnoxious ones.

(First, let me state this so..... no hate mail comes my way...I was a Cub Scout Master for 6 years, and I also volunteered 3 additional years to the BSA as its District Health and Safety Advocate to its local troops  I also have a son, who is now 20 years old.)

Back to the father of four...as one of his son's kicked off his 3 year old sister off the raft in 5 foot waves.  I secretly appreciated the fact that I got to see you take your son by his swim trunks and drop in a current of five foot waves, lift him back on the raft and tell him..."keep it up, and there will be more of that to come!"  As the son gasps for air and spits water out of his lungs.  I literally fell off my raft from laughter cause I did not realize that kind of parenting still existed.  Hilarious?  Scary?  I immediately wondered what happens behind closed doors.

..they say one day at a time
I have had a wonderful time this week blogging and sharing my ribbon hoarding issues with my online friends!  It is embarrassing to have to admit of having such a problem.  I am confident that with their love and support I will get through Friday without buying any ribbon.  However, Saturday is totally off, Michael's has ribbon for $1.00 a spool and  it is the last day of the sale!

Fan Letter
I wrote my first Fan letter to a fellow blogger that I admire for their work and craftsmanship.  I still have not heard back from her.  Looking back maybe I made a mistake by making the subject line to my email "Your New Blog Stalker".  I am worried she never opened it up... should I send her more emails daily to let her know I am really not a stalker?  One to think about.

Crabby Cakes Studio-CCS
I had a great weeknight meeting with my business partner Christine about new Easter layouts, discussing our first video tutorial on creating paper flowers and blog ideas for  next week.

I have also started posting questions on our Facebook page for our followers to answer, yet no one has replied...weird.  Maybe asking "What is your favorite craft magazine?" was too offensive.  Maybe I will have Christine ask the questions next week, she is more p.c. than I am.

Well DD, as always, thanks for letting me write in your space.

A little Thanks

Bless my mother!  She really taught me the importance to appreciate every gift received no matter hoe big or small!  I think that is why I appreciate the little things so much more that the grandious stuff.
If there is one thing I can say is that saying "Thank You" can really go a long way..it is so simpe yet makes a big impact.  I think it is part of our on the go society that we forget simple gestures this is.

Last weekend I created "thank you" cards for Crabby Cakes Studio (my custom scrapbook company with my business partner Christine Marting)  (feel free to visit my other blog at crabbycakescrafts@blogspot.com

....so I decided that I wanted to create a few for Rock Girl Designs, so I can send along with my blog candy!  What perfect timing since April I am focusing on working on Cricut's Rock Princess cartridge.

Here is my 3x3 thank you cards!  I used the image on page 68 set at 2.5 inches.  I cut the background paper (hot pink and black) in 2.5 X 2.5 squares.
I heard that the Rock Princess cartridge is very tricky to use since there are so many layers.  But this was pretty easy,  I just focused on the color of layers I was using.  Once they were all cut, assembling was a breeze.

Go for it!  I dare you!  Pull out your Rock Princess cartridge and create something!
