NIFTY FIFTIES CRICUT CARTRIDGE: You Bowl Me Over Card

Here is my last card in my March series using the Nifty Fifties Cricut cartridge.

I used the bowling pin and ball images located on page 33 set at 5 inches.

I really wanted to make a more masculine card for this last one.  I think as a female crafter, I tend to make gifts and cards for my female friends and tend to forget about the men in my life!  Not good, especially since everyone I know really supports my business and my creative talents.

The red stripes on the bowling pin really dedicated the color scheme of this card, besides I think that you can not get any more masculine with black and red!

Again with my polka dotted background paper for this card!

I used some of my left over scraps for the background of this card.  Okay, so this card makes a loud statement with very little effort on this Rock Girl's part!  This card took 5 minutes to make and 3 1/2 of those minutes was because I had to wait for my Cricut to cut the images.  VERY easy to make!

No stamps were used, this time I used my computer to type up "You Bowl Me Over" tag on white cardstock.

I added a little light brown chalk around the bowling pin to add a little age to it!  I highlighted the bowling ball with white chalk.

This card is a X!

Remember to leave a comment and become a follower of my blog and you will be entered in this month's blog candy!  The blog candy will be the set of cards I create using the Nifty Fifties Cricut Cartridge in the month of March.

Winner will be chosen the first week of April.  Good Luck!

NIFTY FIFTIES CRICUT CARTRIDGE: Ohh La La Card

Ohh La La Card

Here is my third card for March using the Nifty Fifties Cricut Cartridge.

I used the french poodle image located on page 29 set at 4 inches.

I really wanted to use that cool 1950's color hue of the pinks and robinegg blue for this card especially since I used the polka dotted background paper for this card.

I used some of my left over scraps for the background of this card.  I really enjoyed the simplicity of this card.  You can not get anymore "Ohh La La" than a French Poodle!

The background and cardstock was chosen from my scrap pile to match the background paper.

I used another $1.00 stamp I purchased from Michael's, I think it is made by G Studios.  I just love these $1.00 stamps!

I added a few pink pearls and added a pink polka dots ribbon for that little added appeal and texture.

Remember to leave a comment and become a follower of my blog and you will be entered in this month's blog candy!  The blog candy will be the set of cards I create using the Nifty Fifties Cricut Cartridge in the month of March.

Winner will be chosen the first week of April.  Good Luck!

Day 2 of the
Luck of the Irish Blog Hop
Happy St. Patty Day Wall Hanging

Welcome back to Day 2 of the Luck of the Irish Blog Hop!  I hope you had a chance to see all the creations from yesterday!  I am so thankful for all the feedback and love!  Thank you to y'all!  This has been my first time participating in a blog hop and it won't be my last!  I really had a great time and really appreciate Lisa for letting me participate!

The St. Patty's Day Wall hanging was really easy to create!

First, I purchase a canvas artist pack for Dollar Tree...and 2 canvas came in a package!  What a bargain!

I painted the canvas with FolkArt acrylic paint #459 Hauser Green Light
I used a G Studio stamp and stamped flourish clovers all over the canvas.  I used the same stamp set to make the St. Patty's Day signage.

The last step was to glitter spray the canvas.  I did this because the acrylic paint is flat so I wanted to add a little shimmer to the canvas.  The last scrapbook convention I purchased Iridescent spray from the CC International Company, I have not seen this spray in my LSS, but I am sure it is out there!

Next, I created my Teddy Bear Leprechaun using Little Scraps of Heaven SVG template collection Bears through the year.  Templates can be purchased through her site at:http://littlescrapsofheavendesigns.com/

I used part of a MyScrapChic.com SVG called Lucky Rainbows. I used it to create my four leave clovers.  I pop dotted the clovers and added a white thread and attach to the hand.

To create the rainbow, I simply cut circles at 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, and 5 inches and layered the circles and cut in half!  Easy rainbow!

I took a shoe lace and cut it to use as the hanger for this canvas!

This creation really took a life on itself, it was easy and once I started I had a very clear vision of the end result.  May your day be full of good luck!

Dear Diary.....3/12/2011 update

3/12/2011

Dear Diary

Are you there God?  It's me...Rock Girl

Although today was a non stop day, I did not accomplish exactly everything on my "to do" list.  Well, honestly, I did not actaully asccomplish much at all.  So God, I want to let you know that I appreciate that you have given me an additional day in the weekend for moments like these.

The morning was hectic and busy with the usual shopping for home stuff...nothing exciting really...dusting spray, toilet bowl cleaner, carpet spray, steel wool pads.  Sadly, no scrapbook products today...although I did feel Hobby Lobby's gravitational pull as I drove by.

I took my son, Cory, to Super Dawgs for lunch today and really enjoyed our time together and especially the convo we had.

My family:  Grandma and Grandpa, Mom, Cory went to visit my Uncle Johnny in the afternoon.  I am glad I made the choice to go visit.  I will have no regrets.  My Uncle Johnny is one of the most loving and caring human beings I have ever known and is truly a "good man".  I love you Uncle Johnny!  You are in my prayers!

I came home all ready to get Rockin and scrapin' but quickly realized how tired and exhausted I really was.

The phone seemed a little crazy this evening with calls ending and the phone ringing immediately with someone else to talk with.

I  managed to make 2 creations for my Irish Blog Hop!  And completed 1 page of Baby Will's album.
So I can't say I did not get anything done!

I would like to take a moment and thank everyone who has left such supportive and loving feedback on my recent creations!  I am truly humble of the thoughtful comments and love!  I am sure you can relate when I say that I am critical of all my creations...too much glitter here, not enough glitter there, too boring, too simple, too much......on and on!

Appreciating everyone that decided to become followers of Rock Girl Designs too!  I hope I do not disappoint you and I hope you don't mind me posting about my life besides my crafts too.  I enjoy sharing and hope you check in to Rock Girl Designs often to see all my updates.

Sunday's To Do List for this Rock Girl:

1.  Complete 1 more project for the Irish Blog Hop
2.  Complete 19 more pages for Baby Will's album
3.  Clean the bathrooms
4.  Dust the furniture
5.  wash the kitchen floor
6.  gather receipts for Crabby Cakes taxes (yuck!)

Like the little engine that could...I know I can.  I know I can

Let me know how your plans are going so far!
Keep Rockin and Scrapin!

NIFTY FIFTIES CRICUT CARTRIDGE

Cocktail Anyone?

Here is my second card for March using the Nifty Fifties Cricut Cartridge.

I used the martini glass image located on page 27 set at 5 inches.
I want to go non traditional in the colors I used for this card.  I used some of my left over scraps for the background of this card.  (The paper pack was  purchased from Target's Dollar Bins last January.  I feel in love with all the glitter and its metallic silver.)  You just can't go wrong with a $1.00 paper pack! The background and cardstock was chosen to match the background paper.
I used another $1.00 stamp I purchased from Michael's, I think it is made by G Studios.

I added a few glitter dots and glittered over the stamp to add more sparkle.  (Honestly, not sure I love this card, but loved the process of making it)
The newest technique I just learned was how to create the ruffled/curtain ribbon look.  I tend to be so frugal with my embellies, that I felt a little guilty using so much ribbon!  (this is obvious evidence that I am a scrapbook hoarder).  I think I will need to add a little more glue dots before it is shipped off to the blog winner...so if you end up winning this month's blog candy, I assure you that it will look lovely!

Remember to leave a comment and become a follower of my blog and you will be entered in this month's blog candy!  The blog candy will be the set of cards I create using the Nifty Fifties Cricut Cartridge in the month of March.  Winner will be chosen the first week of April.  Good Luck!

Oh, please come visit on March 17th and 18th, I will be participating in my first blog hop!  The Luck of the Irish!  I promise there will be a blog candy given away too!

NIFTY FIFTIES CRICUT CARTRIDGE

I remember when I was a little girl every Sunday was laundry day at my Grandparent's house.  My Grandmother would spend hours ironing all the clothes.   I especially remember her ironing my Grandpa's "hankies".  I asked her why she ironed them and she told be "because"...so typical!  I never really understood why the hankies got special attention since all my Grandpa used them for was to blow his nose in them. (so gross)!~SO why am I showing a dress and not a hankie?  Well, ironing the hankies was such a 1950's house wife thing to do!

Grandma and Grandpa Howe
My Mom!

My Flower Girl Dress

My Grandma was a truly a gifted seamstress, she learned from her father who owned his own seamstress shop in Chicago.  My mother has told me countless stories of my grandmother making her clothes and how embarrassed she was a kid wearing them because they were not hip and not in style.
When my mother re-married, I was so excited because I was the Flower Girl.  My Grandma made my dress for that occasion, and it still hangs in my closet today.  It is simply a treasure for me and something that I will always keep because she made it for me.

When I saw this dress form on the cartridge, it totally reminded me of them, especially my sweet Grandma!  I love them dearly and am so blessed to still them them both here with me.  Every time I see my Grandma, she is wearing a stylish velor jumpsuit and her jewels.

DETAILS:  (CARD SIZE:  4  x  5.5)

I choose a simple striped pattern from Echo Park Paper Co from the Little Girl Collection.
I found the pattern to have the look and feel of the fabrics of the fifties.

Of course I had to add the classic 1950's accessory of pearls!

The solid Green cardstock was part of a Colorbok pack purchased at Walmart for only $5.00!
I then dry embossed it using the Cuttlebug template.

The dress form can be located on page 30 of the Nifty Fifties Cricut Cartridge, set at 5 inches.

Hope you enjoyed!  I will be adding more cards to this collection each week on the month of March and will give the set of 5 cards as BLOG CANDY! In order to be qualified for the blog candy, you need to become a follower of this blog and leave a comment letting me know what the Nifty Fifties means to you!

Custom Birthday Album-Addison

Here is a 5 x 7 custom birthday album for Addison!  Sorry for the not-so-great pictures.  My camera batteries died out and all I could use my scanner.  I think all the glitter on the pages made some of the pages look "foggy".

Addison just celebrated her 3rd birthday. Addison's birthday theme was Candyland.  I thought all the "Sweet" glittery and glazed paper was a good choice for this album!

Thanks for looking!
