1950's design inspired Happy Birthday Card

 

Loved making this 1950's starburst inspired card!   As some of you already know from reading my recent posts,  I am obsessed with thrift stores right now and been really lucky to pick up some really cute pieces for my craft room for REALLY cheap.  I feel lucky that I have the ability to see something ugly and find its beauty again.   Recently I purchased some 1950 canister sets, a wicker shelf, and have brought new life to them.   I am totally into the retro look at this very moment and hoping to make my new craft room into "cottage shabby"  aqua, pink and white. 

I recently purchased a mirror in the 1950 starburst design which now hangs over our bed.  LOVE IT!

Just A Note Card Rock Girl Style!

Here is  a "Just a Note" card I created.  I created a series of these cards for my college bound son last year.  Since my family sends lots of stuff in the mail and I wanted to make sure he didn't forget to send off "Thank You" cards.  This card set served Cory well in college and as a Mom pretty proud that he remembered his manners and appreciated all the little stuff sent to him during the year.

Since Cory is my Rocker, I knew he would love these cards too....and indeed he did!

Here is a card I created in an Archiver's workshop.  I love going to these to get new ideas and the ability to play with some new products! 


I love this card for its simplicity and color palette.  I tend to gravitate toward black and white patterns against any color.  I think it is the color "popping" that I love so much.

Holy Cow Card Series: Card 1

HOLY COW CARD SERIES

Here is the first card of my "Holy Cow" card series.

I love doing dry embossing and love Lasting Impression Brass Templates. 

I pick my templates on line or at my LSS.  The template I am using this week is L9389 Moo.

As a scrapbooker and crafter, I am guilty of wanting the latest and greatest new thing.....but I really love the raise impressions and demension dry embossing gives to my cards.  I chose this template to show that you can purchase one item (4.99) and get a lot of use out of it!

So this is my first card of the series:

My Milkshake brings All the Boys to the Yard

(obviously this is an "adult" card and I do not mean to offend anyone.  I just like to snarky cards.)

I  used black embroirary floss to make the tail.  The paper used was from Hobby Lobby, it is old and was in my stash so I thought I would use it up!  You will see several other cards with this background too....again, showing you can use what you got and not spend a lot of money!

The cow spots are a metallic black with silver accent and the horns are in gold.

Girlfriend Card

Sharing precious moments with girlfriends are just simple treasures and extreme pleasures for this Rock Girl.  

I love my moments with my girlies!  I am sure you can relate being  a wife and mother sometimes leave little time for yourself.  

There are just times when the girlies are just what this girlie needs!  Oddly, they always seem to come at just the right moment too!  So thanks to my lovely darlings!

(I am not sure what my scanner is doing, but really all my cards are straight!, some how they are scanning crooked)

Here is another card I created a few years ago.  This one is a "retirement" card.  I still love this image, especially since I am an accountant by trade, and the good Lord knows, accountants have a nerdy persona!

Again , I used colored pencils and Gamasol to blend the colors!  I added a little Diamond Glaze for the eye glass lenses!

Looking at this card, I love the argyle patterned paper and the image.  I think I would use ribbon for extra texture and maybe some brads to the corners.

When Pigs Fly Card

 

When Pigs Fly..................

I love this card as much as when I created it!  I love my pigs!  The inside card was left blank for the user to add their own sentiments.

The middle paper was corrugated to add dimension.  Once I was done coloring the my little piggie, I glittered the entire image, I really do not think this picture really shows its sparkle!  I would not change a thing to this darling card,  It has always been a winner at my card shows!
