Call her Gladys

If you see me in my daily life, you will likely see me sporting a necklace, earrings, barrette or a scarf with a skull or two on it.

You ask, “Why skulls Bobbi?”

First, I do not like skulls, I love skullies.  Most people automatically have this internal click that equates skulls with death. DUH!  Let me clarify that I am not fascinated with those types of skulls!  That would be just GROSS and CREEPY!  Those types of skulls only come out of the Hickman closets at Halloween time.

However, I do love my skullies; the ones that are colorful and girlie like the used on in my blog décor.
Let me also state right now that my house is not decorated in skulls, we do not want to have rumors spread in the neighborhood that The Hickman’s are a cult or witches or something like that!

I simply adore Sugar Skull art.  The beauty is all in the bright colors, the happiness in the designs, and the true meaning.

The use of sugar skulls is a symbolization of the Day of the Day which is a Mexican holiday.  The day is meant to remind us that life is short, the cycle of life keeps turning, our loving relationships will last a lifetime and the spirits of the dead are always with us.

Here is my painting called "Call her Gladys"
This is not Gladys, but I think she is adorable....her name is Lucy.

Portriat of Charlie the Cocker Spaniel

You are viewing an ink drawing I completed in my senior year of high school...far from one of my best.  This is more of what I would have considered a "doodle" today.  Needless to say, it has been many years since I did this and had no memory of actaully drawing this.  The portrait is of my childhood dog, Charlie Reagan as a pup.

This particular drawing appeared out of the blue on my son's Facebook page.  Apparently, Cory James, has been holding on to it all this time!  I asked him why this, and he just said that he loved this drawing, he liked it so much he posted my art on his page.

Thanks Cory James!  Remember that God gave you wonderful artistic gifts so embrace them, express yourself and share them with the rest of the world!  This is what makes each of us unique and beautiful!

New Christmas Tradition...Gingerbread House Decorating

We needed a fun activity for the weekend, so I decided the Hickman's were going to decorate Gingerbread houses!  This was a lot of fun for my son, Cory James and his girlfriend, Ingrid.  My husband was busy making an amazing Mexican dinner for us all..but joined in the fun by making us windows and doors for the houses.

This is a picture for Cory and Ingrid's creative house.  If you look closely, a corner of the roof is missing.......at some point the roof cracked and Cory ate it.
This was my hubby and mine.  Of course...we are traditionalist.  I think I will be pinning Gingerbread houses so we are really ready for next year!

Back of the houses...apparently one of the houses eats little boys and girls.
